PRI Operational Resilience Course

Structured learning
for the discipline.

The PRI Operational Resilience Course is the institute's single structured learning programme. It is recommended for people entering the field, returning to it, or upskilling from an adjacent discipline. The course awards a Certificate of Course Completion. It is a separate offering from the PRI credentials (ARO, CRO, SCRO) and is not a route to certification — credentials are awarded only on demonstrated capability through competency-based assessment.

Certification vs completion

A programme prepares you. A credential recognises you.

This programme provides structured preparation in operational resilience and awards a Certificate of Completion. It develops the capability required for operational resilience roles and prepares candidates for PRI assessment.

PRI professional credentials (ARO, CRO, SCRO) are awarded separately, through assessment, evidence and review. Completion of this programme does not guarantee certification.

What this course is — and what it isn't

It is a structured programme covering the practical mechanics of operational resilience. It is designed to build a working knowledge of the discipline so participants can contribute usefully in a resilience, business continuity or operational risk role.

It is not a route to a PRI credential. The course awards a Certificate of Course Completion. ARO, CRO and SCRO are professional credentials, awarded separately on demonstrated capability — not on attendance or examination.

Who it's for

Built for entrants, returners and upskillers.

The course is recommended for people entering the field who want a structured grounding, for practitioners refreshing their knowledge, and for staff in adjacent disciplines (audit, risk, technology continuity, security) whose role has picked up resilience responsibilities.

Entering the field

People stepping into a first resilience, business continuity or operational risk role and looking for structured grounding.

Refreshing knowledge

Practitioners returning to the field, or whose responsibilities have moved on, who want a current view of the discipline.

Upskilling adjacent staff

Audit, ORM, compliance, IT continuity and physical security staff who have picked up resilience tasks inside their role.

Career transitioners

People moving in from related disciplines who want a regional curriculum to anchor their move.

The eight modules.

Six live virtual sessions over six weeks, eight modules in total. Each module includes worked examples and an applied exercise.

Module 01

Foundations & terminology

ISO 22301, APRA, MAS, HKMA and DORA terminology — building a working vocabulary that holds up across APAC markets.

Module 02

Business impact analysis

Gathering operational data, documenting recovery timelines, and translating questionnaire responses into hard numbers.

Module 03

Service & dependency mapping

Mapping the people, systems and vendors a critical activity relies on, at a level another practitioner can audit.

Module 04

Incident logging & response discipline

Logging protocols, log hygiene, and executing a standard continuity plan under disruption.

Module 05

Component testing

Coordinating desktop walkthroughs and application failovers at a single-component level.

Module 06

Post-incident reporting

Reconstructing timelines, collecting uptime metrics, and recording the gaps an event exposed without editorialising.

Module 07

Multi-regulator literacy

Cross-mapping APRA CPS 230, DORA, MAS and HKMA into a single working data model.

Module 08

Severe-but-plausible scenarios

Designing simulations that reflect real APAC risk patterns — climate exposure, vendor concentration, cross-border friction.

After the course

What comes after the course.

On completion, participants receive a Certificate of Course Completion. Those who go on to do applied resilience work and want their capability formally recognised may then apply separately for the ARO credential — which is awarded on demonstrated capability against the PRI competency framework. The course is preparation, not a shortcut.
